Section 323 IPC punished voluntarily causing hurt (otherwise than on grave and sudden provocation) with imprisonment up to 1 year, or fine up to ₹1,000, or both.
BNS Section 115(2) retains the offence with imprisonment up to 1 year, or fine up to ₹10,000, or both.
Substance retained; renumbered to BNS 115(2) and the maximum fine increased from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000.
